Mrs Huria Ali Mahdi is currently serving as State Minister to the National ICT and Digital Economy Sector at the FDRE Ministry of Innovation and Technology since October 6, 2021. Before her current assignment, H.E has served at the Ministry of Education as a State Minster for the Quality Assurance sub-sector. Her contribution to the overall organizational transformation of the Ministry of Education was remarkable. The experiences she got from working in different positions at different governmental and
non-governmental organizations made her one of the creditable and influential female
leaders in the country. Mrs Huria in addition to her position as a State Minister she is known for her
unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment activities. She is contributing a lot to the empowerment and autonomy of women and the improvement of their political, social, and economic, and health status. Her diverse experience in academia, Business Development and Planning, Gender and HIV, Quality Assurance and Research, Monitoring and Evaluation made her an acclaimed leader.
Mrs Huria Ali received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Mekelle University and holds her Master of Arts Degree in Human and Economic Development from Addis Ababa University. Mrs Huria is currently a PhD candidate in two disciplines; Mobility and Citizenship and Economics at Addis Ababa University.
